After careful consideration Simon and Sons Engineering Ltd awarded the order to ICE. The 815C showed a good price-quality advantage the cooling system – that is what the C in 815C stands for – ensures the hammer can work continuously even in the hot Hong Kong summer and local support by Face Machinery allows for hassle free operation. As ICE routinely keeps a stock of new hammers in Hong Kong next day delivery was possible.
 
The first job for the hammer will be driving 24m sheet piles and 1 meter diameter mini bore piles. These bore piles are first driven into the soil excavated with a drill after which the pile is filled with concrete. As the concrete hardens the hammer extracts the bore pile leaving behind a well formed round column
 
Did you know that in its 2009 report the Hong Kong Construction Association recommends hydraulic vibratory hammers for driving steel piles to reduce typical piling noises such as:
Ringing noise (radiated from the surface of the pile);
Impact noise; and
Exhaust noise (created by the release of pressurized gases from exhaust ports).
