In Macao the fourth bridge linking Macau and Taipa is projected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024. Just a few more months to go and the road deck will be connected from shore to shore. Shenzhen RZN is building the trestle bridge that is used for the construction of the main bridge.
RZN purchased a new hydraulic vibratory hammer for the challenging conditions at this marine project. After careful deliberation RZN chose the 55NF as its high RPM and large clamping jaws are ideally suited to extracting steel casings that have been immersed in saline seawater. The hammer’s low self-weight gives the crawler crane a wide operating range.
Some of the piles had broken under the water level and the 55NF was fully submerged to pull them up. All ICE hammers are prepared for underwater work, but always check the manual or call our service team before you go down! Once the bridge is completed, it will be time to dismantle the temporary works and extract the working platforms. The steel material will be moved to the next project and start its circulation through the economy.
The bridge then spans the artificial island of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge port, crosses the Outer Harbor, and goes in the direction of Inner Harbour and New Urban Zone area E1. This provides some stunning views! The total length of the bridge is around 3,085 meters, of which the length of the cross-sea part is around 2.9 kilometers.
